Research Interests

Emily’s past research has included topics ranging from German as a heritage language to study abroad. Her dissertation focused on connections that students have with native speakers of German and how this interacts with their experience in the foreign language classroom. She continues to be interested in research surrounding Less Commonly Taught Languages, Open Educational Resources, online language instruction, study abroad, language acquisition, and educational technology. She served as the lead co-editor on the development of two edited volumes published in 2023:
